What is Medicare Supplement Insurance?
Medicare Supplement Insurance is also called Medigap Insurance. It is insurance for those who are covered by both Medicare Part A and Part B.
Original Medicare does not cover all expenses, including copayments and deductibles. Medicare Supplement plans offer additional benefits and coverage although such plans may not cover all health care expenses. This can reduce out of pocket expenses.
Medicare Supplement policies are offered by private insurance companies. Monthly premiums for Medicare Supplement are in addition to monthly Medicare Part B premiums.
When am I eligible for Medicare Supplement Insurance?
In order to purchase Medicare Supplement Insurance, you must be over age 64.5 and covered by Medicare Part A & B. Medicare Part A & B coverage is available to individuals age 64.5 and older or disabled.
